We here at Economic Growth DC are numbers geeks. The best place to get your data fix is George Mason University’s Center for Regional Analysis. We wish they would post a separate set of numbers specifically limited to the District, but they are focused on the region as a whole. This is the powerpoint from a presentation made by the Center’s director, Dr. Stephen Fuller. We read the overall analysis moderately positive, but not great. According to CRA, the region is going struggle because of downward pressure on the federal budget. We’ve made a habit of pointing out that the District derives 35% of its economy from government spending. The downward pressure is going to have tangible negative effects on the District’s economy until we are able to re-balance it toward greater private sector economic activity.
